A RingCentral Case Study
Ascend Charter Schools is a Brooklyn-based network of 15 K–12 schools serving about 6,000 students with a staff of 700. As the organization expanded, its outdated PBX phone system and clunky administration portal made it hard to scale, keep staff reachable off their desks, and support remote learning—limitations that became critical when COVID forced schools to go virtual.
Ascend migrated to RingCentral’s cloud communications (RingCentral MVP with Video), giving staff unified calling on any device and dependable video for daily remote instruction, meetings, and virtual events. The rollout connected all campuses and 700 employees, kept teachers teaching and operations responsive during lockdowns, saw video usage surge, and prompted a pilot of RingCentral Rooms to extend full classroom participation to remote learners.
