Terrebonne General Medical Center - Customer Case Study

Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC), a 321-bed community hospital in Houma, Louisiana, wanted to improve patient safety by reducing duplicate medical records, overlays, patient fraud, and medical identity theft. To address these risks, TGMC looked for a flexible, scalable patient identity management solution from RightPatient that could work with its McKesson EHR and support a non-contact, hygienic patient identification process.

TGMC implemented RightPatient with Photo Biometrics, allowing staff to identify patients by taking a picture and linking it to the medical record. The solution integrated smoothly with the McKesson workflow, required minimal IT resources, and achieved over 99% patient acceptance and enrollment. According to TGMC, RightPatient helped prevent duplicate and overlay records, eliminate medical ID theft and fraud at the point of service, improve check-in efficiency, and support a cleaner MPI.
