Berkman Forwarding is an international NVOCC founded in 1988 that handles mostly sea freight between China, South‑East Asia, India and global destinations. Their operations relied on email and Excel, making booking updates, status tracking and cross‑office coordination slow and error‑prone. Berkman engaged Riege Software after seeing a demo of the forwarding platform Scope and sought an Order Management System (OMS) to automate bookings and connect their headquarters, subsidiaries and agents while allowing customers to follow shipment status.
Riege Software implemented Scope and later delivered an integrated OMS via Scope Connect, adding Ocean Insights for journey events and automated delivery of negotiated rates to customers. The solution centralized operational handling in a single interface, replaced tedious email/Excel workflows, enabled a China pilot where all supply‑chain parties can view statuses and milestones, and accelerated booking decisions and processes. Berkman reports a smooth switch within weeks and ongoing development in partnership with Riege Software.
