A RideCo Case Study
The City of Calgary, through Calgary Transit, faced a first-mile/last-mile transit gap in the new northern communities of Carrington and Livingston, where residents had no local bus routes and limited access to a nearby transit hub. RideCo was brought in to provide an on-demand microtransit solution to connect these neighborhoods to the broader transit network.
RideCo implemented software and operations support for a wheelchair-accessible microtransit service using two 12-seat shuttles, creating 100% connectivity to the transit hub with an average wait time of 15 minutes. The program quickly exceeded expectations, serving 120+ passengers per weekday, achieving 7.0 passengers per vehicle hour, 90% shared rides, and a 4.9-star trip rating, leading Calgary Transit to plan expansion to six additional communities.
