A RideCo Case Study
The Town of Cochrane, Alberta, faced a major transit gap as its population grew rapidly and no public transit service was available for residents. To address the challenge, the town partnered with RideCo to design and operate a customized on-demand microtransit service using RideCo’s software and operations support.
RideCo replaced the need for a traditional fixed-route system with a city-wide on-demand transit network, including 4 wheelchair-accessible shuttles serving 145 virtual stops across a 12-square-mile zone. The service quickly gained traction, reaching 180+ passengers per weekday, an average wait time of 18 minutes, 4.6 passengers per vehicle hour, 78% shared rides, and 4.6-star trip ratings, while moving more than 60,000 km in the first two months.
