City of Moorpark increases ridership 21X with RideCo

The City of Moorpark faced underutilized fixed-route buses and shifting ridership trends, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Their challenge was to reduce underperforming bus routes and provide more direct trips with shorter wait times to attract new riders. To address this, they partnered with vendor RideCo to implement its on-demand transit platform.

Using RideCo's platform, Moorpark launched MCT On Demand, a stop-to-stop service that supplements the fixed-route network. This solution allows riders to book trips on demand or in advance via a smartphone app, web portal, or call center. The results were significant, with RideCo helping achieve a 21x increase in ridership, an average of 4.4 passengers per vehicle hour, and an 82% increase in service coverage.
