WeGo - Customer Case Study

Gainesville-Hall County (WeGo) needed a more efficient way to provide transit across a large rural service area, where three underperforming fixed routes were creating high costs and long wait times for riders. The county worked with Via to launch a microtransit and demand-responsive transit service to improve accessibility, service quality, and overall network efficiency.

Via implemented WeGo as a citywide on-demand transit service, accessed mostly through a white-labeled app, and later expanded it countywide in July 2021. The new service cut cost per trip by 50% and reduced wait times by 30 minutes compared with fixed-route service, while also improving ridership and making travel easier in low-density rural areas.
