King County Metro boosts ridership 24% with Via

King County Metro, a large transit agency, faced the challenge of operating three separate microtransit pilot programs and sought to improve first- and last-mile connections to its fixed-route transit system. To address this, they partnered with Via and its turnkey transit solution to consolidate these services into a single, unified program.

Via implemented a consolidated on-demand service called Metro Flex, which expanded mobility access across nearly 100 square miles. The solution delivered significant results, including a 24% ridership increase in certain zones and a 147% increase in wheelchair rides from April 2023 to March 2024. Via's service provided nearly 30,000 rides in a single month, greatly improving transit access for 464,000 residents.
