Case Study: Keoride achieves 100,000+ trips and 96% rider preference with Via

An accessible, equitable, and sustainable transportation solution for a growing region

Keoride, an on-demand transit service launched in March 2018 in Sydney by Keolis Downer and partners, needed to prove the case for on-demand transit in the greater Sydney region and grow ridership on BRT lines and commuter links. Via provided the on-demand technology platform used to power Keoride’s services in Macquarie Park and the Northern Beaches.

Via’s platform, integrated with OpalPay and paired with tailored fare and service designs, delivered more than 100,000 trips in the first 11 months, earned 96% rider preference over personal vehicles, prompted fleet expansion (six vehicles added in Macquarie Park), and won the Overall Smart City Project Award; these measurable results have led Via, Keolis Downer and TfNSW to consider further expansion of the service.
