Marigold Clothing is a 25-year-old, artsy women’s boutique in Indianapolis owned by Linda Shikany. After outgrowing its original location and moving to a busier corner, the store needed better retail technology to track customer purchase history, analyze sales, manage inventory, and run targeted promotions to keep customers coming back.

Linda implemented RICS (since 1999, upgraded to the latest real-time web version) for customer management, reporting, and inventory control. Using dashboards and reports like Top 25 Items, Sales by Month, Top 250 Customers, and Customer Lists, Marigold runs regular email/snail-mail promotions, targets top customers with holiday rewards, and posts incoming-item reports for staff. The result: meticulous inventory control (average shrink ~0.25%), stronger customer relationships, increased repeat and incremental sales, and more data-driven buying decisions.
