VTR Chile Selects Ribbon Communications’ Network Transformation Solutions

VTR, Chile's largest multi-channel television and broadband internet provider, needed to modernize its legacy TDM access network to all-IP technology. The challenge involved reducing massive operational expenditures on power and space while offering new services and preserving their existing investment. They selected Ribbon Communications as their partner for this network transformation project.

Ribbon Communications implemented a solution centered on its C20 & Application Server with G6 media gateways in a geo-redundant configuration. This consolidated eleven legacy switches into a single, modern platform. The results were dramatic, yielding a 70% reduction in power consumption and a 97% reduction in physical space, all while ensuring a seamless migration for over 700,000 subscribers.
