A Ribbon Communications Case Study

Preview of the UniVoIP Case Study

UniVoIP Builds Best-of-Breed Network in the Cloud with Ribbon SBCs

UniVoIP, a provider of cloud communications to small and medium businesses, faced the challenge of providing a carrier-class experience with five-nines availability to its customers. They also needed to protect their network and enterprise clients from threats like denial-of-service attacks while supporting an open and flexible communications platform. To address this, they turned to vendor Ribbon Communications and their Session Border Controller (SBC) solution.

Ribbon Communications implemented redundant pairs of SBCs in UniVoIP's data centers, creating a geo-redundant architecture that ensured 99.999% availability and robust security. The Ribbon SBCs blocked malicious attacks, provided media transcoding for wider device support, and used SIP normalization to facilitate partnerships with other carriers. This solution allowed UniVoIP to confidently expand its services internationally and offer its customers a highly reliable, secure, and flexible cloud communications platform.
