United States Department of Defense - Customer Case Study

The United States Department of Defense (DoD) sought to modernize its massive communications infrastructure as part of its "Everything over IP" initiative. The challenge was to upgrade its core systems to support secure, unified communications while protecting existing investments by reusing tens of thousands of legacy endpoints and gateways from multiple legacy voice systems. Ribbon Communications addressed this with its industry-leading, JITC-certified Application Server.

Ribbon's solution enabled the DoD to complete one of the largest Voice over IP deployments in its history, consolidating legacy systems and migrating over 60,000 users in a single weekend. The project was finished in just 12 months and resulted in multi-million-dollar savings compared to traditional modernization methods. The Ribbon Application Server provided the DoD with a non-proprietary, carrier-grade platform that significantly upgraded communications capabilities and network reliability without requiring a complete infrastructure overhaul.
