A Ribbon Communications Case Study
Novant Health, a not-for-profit integrated health system with 15 medical centers and more than 1,600 physicians across the Southeast, needed to modernize its communications infrastructure. The organization had 57,000 TDM and analog phones spread across 167 separate phone systems and wanted to consolidate them into a single, IP-based platform while maintaining the reliability it had long depended on. Ribbon Communications helped address this challenge with an upgrade path from Novant’s Nortel CS 2100 environment.
Ribbon Communications provided Novant Health with a seamless migration to a Ribbon C20 and Application Server, supporting standards-based SIP phones and gateways for thousands of analog devices. The new distributed IP architecture enabled Novant to create a single phone system across all sites while reusing thousands of existing endpoints, saving millions of dollars and preserving the scale and resiliency of its legacy platform.
