Highly Available Mobile Platform With Riak Kv Enterprise Software

mGage, a global mobile marketing and advertising technology provider, faced growing demand from broadcasters and mobile operators that exposed the limits of its legacy .NET/SQL Server platform. To support interactive TV campaigns with unpredictable traffic spikes, mGage selected Riak and Riak KV Enterprise Software (written in Erlang) to build a more scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant backend.

Riak helped mGage deploy a two–data-center, mirrored architecture running 18 servers (nine nodes per site) with Riak KV as a hot, real-time transactional datastore and early multi–data-center replication. The Riak-based platform delivered site redundancy, dramatically improved queue behavior and disk utilization (after Riak 1.2), and now supports a 24/7 service for over 140 customers with the scale, durability, and availability mGage required.
