MIT diverts 816kg of waste and saves $86k with Rheaply

Rheaply partnered with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to address the challenge of inefficient property reuse and material exchange across its campus. MIT sought a platform to avoid double purchasing and enable cross-departmental resource sharing, key pillars of its Climate Action Plan.

Rheaply’s resource exchange platform provided a campus-wide solution to scale reuse and the circular economy. The implementation resulted in $86,000 in procurement savings and diverted 816kg of waste from landfill. Rheaply’s technology also created a robust database of material exchange metrics to better understand material flows and inform campus management planning.
