Case Study: Citi turns surplus assets into community investment with Rheaply

A Rheaply Case Study

Citi diverts 100% of surplus assets from landfill with Rheaply

Citi, a leading global bank, sought a more thoughtful way to handle the surplus assets generated from its office and retail location refreshes and decommissions. Their challenge was to manage these excess resources in a way that maximized community impact while adhering to strict project deadlines. To address this, Citi partnered with Rheaply to implement its asset reuse and donation service.

By leveraging Rheaply's services, Citi successfully diverted thousands of items from landfills through large-scale donation programs to local nonprofits and schools. The results were significant, including turning over $1.2 million in surplus asset value into community investment, diverting over 32,000 pounds of material, and avoiding an estimated 52 metric tons of CO2 emissions. Rheaply enabled Citi to achieve 100% landfill diversion on key projects, transforming their decommissions into a model of operational efficiency and social value.
