Continental Materials Corp, a leading supplier of roofing and building components and holding company for several subsidiaries, struggled with an outdated paper-based inventory and shipping process that often took a week or more to produce work order final status reports and produced frequent data-entry errors. To gain real-time inventory visibility, reduce administrative overhead, and improve accuracy, Continental engaged RFgen Software and its RFgen Mobile Foundations for JD Edwards solution.
RFgen Software implemented a JD Edwards-integrated mobile data-collection system using PSION handheld scanners, provided 30 hours of development support, and enabled pick-and-ship and Super Backflush processes out of the box. The RFgen Software deployment delivered automated reporting, eliminated manual data entry, saved more than eight hours a week previously spent creating work order completion records, dramatically increased data accuracy, improved shipping and inventory visibility, and prompted plans to expand RFgen across other business units.
