Canadian Utility Company Gains Greater Efficiency with RFgen Inventory Control Solution

PowerStream, the second-largest municipally owned electricity distributor in Ontario serving more than 335,000 customers, faced inefficient, paper-based warehouse and yard inventory processes that caused double data entry, lost item locations, and inaccurate counts. To modernize and better leverage their Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environment, PowerStream engaged RFgen Software and selected RFgen’s pre-built, JD Edwards-integrated mobile data collection solutions.

RFgen Software customized four mobile modules (Inventory Management, Purchase Order Processing, License Plate, and Warehouse Management) and delivered real-time transactions, on-site testing and staff training. The RFgen solution eliminated paper-based double entry, made all warehouse and yard items visible and easier to locate, improved inventory accuracy and PO integration, and freed employees to focus on other tasks — with PowerStream now tracking stock flow in real time and planning to extend RFgen’s solution to field asset barcoding.
