Case Study: Utilities Kingston improves pipeline risk monitoring with Rezatec satellite data analytics

A Rezatec Case Study

Preview of the Utilities Kingston Case Study

Proactive Pipeline Risk Monitoring Using Satellite Data Analytics

Utilities Kingston, a local multi-utility provider in Kingston, Ontario, needed a better way to assess the condition and risk of its water pipeline assets across a large and varied network. The utility wanted more current, reliable information to help prioritize inspections, maintenance, and investment decisions, and explored Rezatec’s satellite data analytics for proactive pipeline risk monitoring.

Rezatec used its Pipeline Risk model to analyze network, environmental, and satellite data and generate a likelihood-of-failure score for each pipeline segment, delivered through a color-coded web portal. The deployment showed that 64% of water leaks occurred in the 20% of the network identified as highest risk, giving Utilities Kingston a clear basis to target detection and maintenance efforts more cost-effectively. Rezatec’s analysis also revealed ground movement correlations with historic incidents, helping validate the model and improve confidence in future asset management decisions.
