Powering the High School Coding Competition with Reviewr

Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA), a nonprofit focused on diversity and inclusion in technology and STEM, runs the High School Coding Competition (HSCC), a national program that challenges students to build and present software solutions. BDPA needed a better way to manage secure submissions, team workflows, multi-phase judging, fair scoring, operational visibility, and long-term participant tracking, replacing manual processes that relied on shared drives, email, and spreadsheets.

BDPA implemented Reviewr to power the HSCC end to end, using it for centralized submissions, rubric-based judging, automated phase routing, and real-time analytics. With Reviewr, BDPA improved consistency and fairness in scoring, reduced administrative overhead, and gained structured data to track student outcomes over time, helping the competition scale nationally with greater efficiency, transparency, and impact.
