Leading Oil and Gas Company - Customer Case Study

Leading Oil and Gas Company, a mid-stream energy infrastructure business, needed a better way to forecast petroleum movement and manage terminal storage capacity across hundreds of pipelines in North America. Working with Revelwood and IBM Planning Analytics, the company wanted to track barrels per day and revenue by pipeline, product grade, customer, and month, while also accounting for tariffs, inflation, overrides, and other variables.

Revelwood implemented IBM Planning Analytics with cube models for pipeline movement and a three-tiered storage capacity planning model for terminal tanks. The solution improved visibility into operations, enabled more accurate forecasting and capacity monitoring, and helped the company analyze tank utilization, contract renewals, customer concentration, and seasonal trends. It also feeds operational data into the financial model to support capital planning and terminal expansion decisions.
