Darn Good Yarn Saves 40+ Hours Weekly and Delivers a Premium Shopper Experience

Darn Good Yarn, a New York–based Shopify retailer of sustainable arts, crafts, and apparel, struggled with a manual, email- and spreadsheet-driven returns process that consumed one employee’s full 40-hour week, produced slow exchanges, poor visibility into dispositions and inventory, and frustrated shoppers. To address these challenges they adopted ReturnLogic’s end-to-end returns management platform, including a branded self-service returns center, warehouse returns management, and analytics.

ReturnLogic deployed a four‑click self-serve portal, automated communications, backend matching and draft exchange orders, and actionable analytics — cutting returns processing from days to seconds and reducing staff time from ~40 hours/week to about 5 (an 87.5% reduction). The vendor’s solution drove measurable impact: return rate fell by more than 50%, a quarter of refunds shifted to exchanges, customer retention improved, and Darn Good Yarn gained far better operational visibility.
