DHL Increasing Co-Packing Productivity with Sawyer

DHL partnered with Rethink Robotics to address rising pressure from ecommerce and rapidly shifting consumer demand in its consumer goods co-packing operations. To improve flexibility and keep pace with shorter production cycles, DHL needed a smarter way to handle repetitive packing work across its UK facilities, and it used Rethink Robotics’ Sawyer robots to support that effort.

Rethink Robotics deployed nine Sawyer robots across 19 production and contract packing centers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, automating repetitive sorting and packing tasks while upskilling employees into technician and project management roles. The solution increased productivity by more than 15 percent, improved DHL’s ability to respond to demand changes, and laid the groundwork for further robotics investment across the company.
