Follett Corporation, a books and general merchandise retailer operating over 1,200 stores and multiple online storefronts and serving more than half of American households, faced a massive assortment and localization challenge: over 1.5 million Store/SKU combinations with unique restrictions and much of the work managed manually in Excel. To address this complexity they engaged Retalon, implementing Retalon Predictive Analytics and Retalon’s micro-merchandising capabilities.
Retalon configured its predictive analytics engine and business rules to reflect Follett’s granular operations, automating forecasting, purchasing and replenishment across the business. Retalon now generates several million store/SKU forecasts every day, proactively recommending buy and replenishment quantities, creating consistency across channels, and enabling dynamic clustering of products, stores and e‑commerce storefronts.
