A RetailNext Case Study
A national apparel retailer with more than fifty stores deployed RetailNext to compare the performance of two in-store fixtures because legacy systems only reported total traffic and average spend, masking how shoppers actually interacted with specific displays. The retailer wanted to understand exposure, engagement, dwell time, and conversion at a focal fixture near the department entrance and a secondary fixture deeper in the floorplate to uncover opportunities to boost sales.
Using RetailNext’s in‑store analytics (video, POS and sensor data), the team found the focal fixture had very high exposure (93%) but low engagement and conversion, while the secondary fixture had lower exposure (38%) but much higher engagement, longer dwell time and roughly three times the conversion. Armed with these insights, the retailer could test targeted fixes — show trend merchandise at the high‑traffic focal fixture to increase engagement and drive traffic or destination merchandise/marketing to the secondary fixture — delivering actionable changes to improve fixture productivity and lift sales across the chain.
