Unilever Creatively Leverages Display Tool and Reaches Win-Win at Walgreens

Unilever, a global consumer goods leader, faced a challenge getting approved in-store displays at Walgreens after the retailer rolled out a new POS & inventory data–driven display forecasting tool from Retail Solutions Inc. The tool only qualifies stores likely to meet predefined sell-through goals, and because item performance varies widely across Walgreens’ 8,000+ stores, Unilever needed to find collaborative, data-driven approaches to qualify displays without creating excess residual inventory.

Unilever worked with Walgreens and Retail Solutions Inc., leveraging Retail Solutions Inc.’s Display Tool Analytics to model optimal product mixes, fixtures, and run scenario and residual-inventory analyses, plus an exception-based exit strategy. As a result, Walgreens approved Unilever’s display proposal, Dove Master displays saw a 13% sales lift, $523K in net sales value was saved, and residual inventory fell by 50%.
