A Retail Pro International Case Study

Retail Pro® Proves Invaluable for Visually Impaired Retailer

The Quilted Duck, a neighborhood gift shop in Nanaimo, BC run by owner Craig Feris, needed retail software that would be fully accessible to a visually impaired operator, easy for a long-time clerk to learn, and able to provide remote access while Feris traveled for his non-profit work. To meet these needs they chose Retail Pro International’s solution, implementing Retail Pro 8 (via business partner Canadian Retail Solutions Inc.), with accessibility and usability as primary requirements.

Retail Pro International configured Retail Pro 8’s GUI into a text-based interface compatible with screen-reading software, provided near-real-time reporting for remote management, and trained staff for quick adoption. As a result, the shop significantly sped up transactions, improved customer service, reduced the need for seasonal hires during holidays, and supported the owner’s expansion into an adjacent store — outcomes Feris attributes directly to Retail Pro International’s solution.
