Madonna Inn, a boutique destination in San Luis Obispo known for its eccentric décor and three on‑site shops, needed a way to streamline retail transactions for guests and integrate shop sales with its existing hotel systems. Working with Retail Pro International (Retail Pro 9) and business partner Big Hairy Dog, the Inn sought a seamless solution to allow guests to charge purchases and add‑ons to their rooms and to simplify in‑shop and café ordering without disrupting the unique guest experience.
Retail Pro International implemented Retail Pro 9 with the Retail Pro Property Management Link, enabling shop clerks to bill purchases directly to guest rooms and powering the café touch‑menu presets. The integration delivered smoother guest checkout, easier special‑order handling, and faster staff onboarding—clerks reported being fairly comfortable within one month and proficient by six months—while preserving the Madonna Inn’s bespoke retail experience.
