Arc Thrift Stores, a Colorado nonprofit thrift chain with 29 locations and rapid expansion of 2–3 new stores per year, needed a more robust POS and inventory system to manage a complex catalog of 500,000+ items — including nine different price points and six color-tagged age categories — while handling heavy peak traffic and strict PCI obligations. Retail Pro International implemented Retail Pro POS on an Oracle backend with API-enabled customizations (via M&M Enterprise) and integrated TSYS Genius point-to-point encrypted payments, supported by partner Big Hairy Dog. The solution now manages 500,000+ SKUs across 29 stores, processes about 5 million transactions annually with faster checkout on sale days, enforces weekly markdowns so no item remains more than five weeks, and simplifies PCI compliance through encrypted payments.
