A Restrata Case Study
Qatar Petroleum contracted Restrata to secure the Ras Laffan Port expansion in Ras Laffan City, Qatar. With new LNG berths, liquid cargo berths, dry docks and repair yards being built and cargo volumes expected to rise dramatically, Qatar Petroleum required an integrated, scalable security solution to protect critical energy infrastructure and control access across the enlarged port.
Restrata provided end-to-end security consultancy, design, supply and installation of a converged port-wide system, including fence intrusion and movement detection along the entire landside internal boundary, an extensive surveillance network, X‑ray/backscatter and radiation monitoring, OCR and ANPR container/vehicle identification, metal/baggage screening, LRAD vessel warning, access-control gates for LNG/LPG berths, and a central traffic and signage monitoring system. The deployment by Restrata enabled continuous automated inspection and identification of all inbound/outbound cargo and vehicles, tighter access control to sensitive berths, and significantly strengthened detection, deterrence and response capabilities to support safe handling of projected cargo volumes for at least the next 20 years.
