University Collage Cork Uses Advisor for Their Energy Management Cost Control

University College Cork (UCC) needed to control rising energy spend and meet carbon-reduction commitments across a large, growing campus of over 50 buildings and 19,000 students. To gain visibility and cost control of electricity, gas, heat and water use, UCC engaged ResourceKraft and deployed the ResourceKraft Advisor energy management/cost-control solution.

ResourceKraft’s web-based Advisor platform was first installed on 67 meters across 15 buildings in 2010 (later expanded with 40 more meters and solar PV on the O’Rahilly Building), collecting and analysing real-time consumption data, setting targets and automating reporting. ResourceKraft helped UCC achieve measurable results — 3–5% annual energy reductions despite campus growth, steady progress toward a 33% reduction target for 2020, and a #2 ranking in the UI GreenMetric 2014 — while improving transparency, planning and operational savings.
