How Imperial College Lab Advances Metabolic Engineering Research with Reshape

Researchers at Imperial College faced challenges in high-throughput screening and analysis of microbial clones for metabolic engineering research. Their conventional methods were labor-intensive and limited in throughput, making it difficult to obtain the large datasets needed to map complex metabolite interactions. They turned to Reshape Biotech and implemented its Microbiology platform, specifically the Reshape Imaging System.

The Reshape solution provided time-lapse fluorescent imaging and analysis, enabling the team to track a large number of experiments in parallel. This allowed for precise monitoring of microbial growth and metabolite production. The implementation resulted in a 20x increase in the number of microbial clones screened, accelerated research, and provided quantitative data for more accurate modelling. Reshape's digital platform also facilitated seamless data sharing and collaboration among lab members.
