Modine Conquers Complex Transient CFD with Rescale: Customer Interview with Modine Manufacturing

Modine Manufacturing Company, a global designer and manufacturer of heat transfer solutions for automotive, HVAC, agriculture, and industrial markets, needed a way to run much larger and more complex transient CFD simulations than its 10-core workstations and limited on-premise grid could support. The engineering team wanted to reduce assumptions, improve model fidelity, and explore transient conjugate heat transfer and other advanced simulations, but their existing computing environment made these jobs impractical and extremely time-consuming.

Rescale provided the cloud HPC platform that let Modine run STAR-CCM+ simulations with virtually unlimited cores and easy-to-use GUI-based access. With Rescale, Modine cut a transient simulation that used to take about three months on 10 cores down to just a few days, enabling faster customer responses, more detailed results, and better product development. Modine also gained budget controls, quick software-version support, and a path toward future CFD, FEA, and aero-acoustic work; Rescale helped the company improve modeling realism while reducing failure risk and advancing toward less physical prototyping.
