Major Manufacturing Company, a global automotive manufacturer, needed to virtualize CAD, pre-processing, solving and post-processing workflows to speed R&D while avoiding the costs and delays of physical workstations. As a Rescale customer, they adopted Rescale’s Elastic Cloud Workstations but were constrained by high idle cloud compute charges and long start/configuration times (30+ minutes), which made simply turning off workstations impractical.

Rescale addressed this with Elastic Cloud Workstations’ workstation suspension capability, which saves a workstation’s state to disk so teams can stop and restart sessions without losing configuration—resuming in about two minutes instead of a 30+ minute boot.
