Hybrid Cloud Gives RWDI the Elasticity and Capacity to Respond to Revenue-Generating Opportunities

RWDI, a global multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm, had outgrown its on‑premises HPC after winning a large 30‑year wind speed mapping project across the Middle East that required roughly a million core‑hours in two months. Unable to expand local infrastructure or build cloud‑bursting middleware themselves, RWDI selected Rescale—using its hybrid cloud/ScaleX platform and high‑performance Magnesium core type—for a turnkey, seamless on‑premises/cloud integration.

Rescale integrated with RWDI’s scheduler so engineers could submit cloud jobs with minimal workflow changes and run heavy compute on Rescale’s Magnesium architecture; RWDI now runs up to fifty‑two 32‑core jobs in parallel (1,664 cores) and has consumed more than 300,000 core‑hours to date.
