Boom Supersonic accelerates jet simulation 6x with Rescale

Boom Supersonic, an aerospace startup designing a supersonic passenger jet, faced the challenge of performing advanced simulations without the massive upfront capital required for a dedicated on-premise high performance computing (HPC) cluster. As a small company with limited funding, they turned to the vendor Rescale and its ScaleX enterprise big compute platform to gain immediate, pay-as-you-go access to powerful cloud HPC resources.

Rescale provided a turnkey solution that allowed Boom to run highly complex computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations on-demand, using up to 512 cores and meshes of over 200 million cells. This enabled Boom to increase simulation throughput, achieving a 6x speedup per job and allowing engineers to evaluate 100 design configurations at once.
