ARC Accelerates Time-to-Market of Thrusters by Over 50% with Rescale

Additive Rocket Corporation (ARC) is an aerospace firm that 3D-prints metal rocket engines and uses ANSYS Fluent, Mechanical, and Additive Print for CFD, FEA and thermo-fluid simulations. Constrained by an on-premises HPC cluster (50–128 cores at ~80% utilization), ARC’s simulation throughput and design-of-experiments (DOE) capabilities were limited, slowing time-to-market—so they evaluated options and selected Rescale’s cloud HPC platform (ScaleX) to meet their need for scalable, diverse compute resources.

Rescale delivered instant access to large, optimized cloud compute inventories (across AWS, Azure, IBM) and an easy-to-use, simulation-centric platform that automated IT tasks and enabled API-driven workflows. Using Rescale, ARC increased simulation throughput by 475%, scaled from ~50 cores to +500 cores, ran DOE campaigns with thousands of iterations, cut engine development from 6–12 months to 2–3 months (over 50% faster), reduced thruster/component weight by 50%, and decentralized their simulation engineering—driving a measurable acceleration to market.
