Adaptive Corporation Leverages the Elasticity of the Cloud with Rescale

Adaptive Corporation, a Digital to Physical Product Lifecycle Company serving industries like Industrial Equipment, Aerospace, Auto, and Life Sciences, needed more flexible compute for its CAE consulting work. Its teams ran explicit crash/impact simulations and large nonlinear analysis with tools like Abaqus, Nastran, Adams, Isight, fe-safe, and Tosca, but its small on-prem HPC environment was often either underutilized between projects or overloaded when demand spiked, causing delays and frequent hardware refresh headaches.

Adaptive Corporation chose Rescale for cloud bursting and customized HPC support, creating a “reverse hybrid” environment that relies mainly on Rescale’s on-demand cloud capacity while still allowing desktop usage when needed. By hosting its Abaqus license on Rescale as well, the company simplified license management, cut IT overhead, eliminated license server maintenance, and improved efficiency. With faster hardware and instant access to more CPUs, Adaptive reported solving jobs more than 10x faster and reducing compute costs by paying only for the hardware actually used.
