TREMEC, a manufacturer of transmission systems and gears for major automotive companies like Daimler, faced a significant challenge with lengthy part inspection times that slowed down its manufacturing process. To address this, TREMEC partnered with vendor Renishaw to implement their Equator gauging system for a new Daimler gear project.

Renishaw's solution involved installing Equator gauges directly on the shop floor alongside machine tools. This eliminated the need to transport parts to a climate-controlled quality room for measurement, drastically reducing inspection time from over 20 minutes to just two and a half minutes per part—an 85% reduction. This also provided comprehensive data recording and analysis capabilities. As a result, TREMEC significantly improved process control and efficiency, leading to plans for further expansion of the Renishaw Equator system into other production areas.
