Conroe Machine cuts payback to 18 days with Renishaw

Conroe Machine, a heavy industry machine shop, faced the challenge of creating a low-cost, 24/7 unmanned cell for part measurement and sorting to increase output for bearing races. To achieve this, they worked with Renishaw to implement an automated solution using the programmable Equator gauging system integrated with a robot and lathe.

The Renishaw Equator system provided a cost-effective and efficient gauging solution that enabled 100% part inspection and auto-compensation of the machining process. This resulted in the automated turning cell paying for itself in just 18 days and increasing finished part production to 600-700 per day from a single cell. The success of this project led Conroe Machine to develop a subsequent unmanned sorting cell for a customer, also utilizing Renishaw's Equator gauges.
