A RenewAire Case Study
The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) faced a significant ventilation challenge during its South Pole Ice Core Project. While drilling in Antarctica, the team needed to eliminate overpowering odors and irritating vapors from the drill room with a high air changeover rate, but were constrained by an extremely limited energy budget and the need for a system that could operate flawlessly in temperatures as low as -40°F without requiring defrosting cycles.
RenewAire provided an EV300 energy recovery ventilator (ERV) to address this challenge. The RenewAire ERV operated perfectly in the frigid conditions with no need for defrosting. Most notably, it increased the airflow rate in the drill room by 40% without consuming any extra heating energy, all while maintaining comfortable temperatures for the drilling team and requiring minimal maintenance.
