Naples Community Hospital reduces refrigeration tonnage by 27 tons with RenewAire

Naples Community Hospital faced a significant HVAC challenge when retrofitting its laboratory. The hospital needed to nearly double the refrigeration tonnage to handle new electronic lab equipment, but was constrained by the same small mechanical room footprint of its original 49-year-old air handler. RenewAire provided a solution using its SA Series Energy Recovery Core Array.

RenewAire implemented a custom-designed array of 12 static-plate energy recovery cores installed inside the new air handler. This solution reduced the required refrigeration capacity by up to 27 tons, eliminated the maintenance issues associated with previous enthalpy wheels, and helped the lab far exceed ASHRAE air quality standards. The project was so successful that the hospital's maintenance department now prefers static cores and has scheduled RenewAire's vendor for another lab HVAC project.
