Case Study: Hilton Garden Inn achieves 34% HVAC energy savings with RenewAire ERVs

A RenewAire Case Study

Hilton Garden Inn reduces HVAC energy use by 34% with RenewAire

The Hilton Garden Inn in Dayton, Ohio faced the challenge of ensuring high indoor air quality and energy efficiency in its new, tightly-constructed hotel. The initial plan for a conventional ventilation system was reconsidered due to the need to remove internally generated contaminants and overcome limited space for ductwork. Steve Coppock of Habegger Corporation and contractor Mike Flynn presented RenewAire's energy recovery ventilation (ERV) technology as a solution to these challenges.

RenewAire ERVs were installed to precondition incoming outside air with energy from exhaust air. This solution replaced 150 individual bathroom fans with only seven centralized ERVs. The results were significant, including a 34% reduction in annual HVAC energy use compared to conventional equipment. The system also provided cleaner air that meets ASHRAE standards, required minimal maintenance, and created a path for the hotel to seek LEED certification.
