A Renaissance Case Study
Great Seneca Creek Elementary School in Germantown, MD, needed a way to motivate a diverse K–5 student body, including a growing number of English Learners, while helping teachers quickly find high-quality reading resources that matched individual needs. The school turned to Renaissance’s myON digital library to support literacy instruction, close reading, and access to nonfiction text for students at different reading levels.
With Renaissance’s myON, teachers created differentiated reading lists, students used digital literacy tools and scaffolds, and school leaders tracked real-time reading data and quiz scores to set goals. The impact was substantial: 689 readers opened 102,598 books, read 70,531 books, and spent 15,903 hours reading, with the school also seeing improved test performance, especially among English Learner students.
