Renaissance Star Assessments provide crucial piece for aiding educators in RTI

Plaquemines Parish Public School Board in Louisiana needed a stronger, data-driven way to support Response to Intervention (RTI) after Hurricane Katrina devastated much of the district. With staff focused on identifying student needs, monitoring progress, and sharing reliable information across schools, the district turned to Renaissance and its Star Assessments, including Star Reading and Star Math, to help manage screening and intervention data.

Renaissance implemented Star Assessments for universal screening three times a year and weekly progress monitoring for students in Tiers 2 and 3, giving educators real-time, color-coded data to guide instruction and intervention decisions. As a result, Plaquemines Parish improved its RTI processes, strengthened district-wide collaboration, and reduced reliance on outside support; the district also noted that it was ready to continue RTI work on its own after years of growth with Renaissance.
