Renaissance helps California district build award-winning bilingual program

Oxnard Union High School District, a district serving a high-poverty student population with a large number of English learners, faced challenges in providing equitable access to Spanish reading materials and assessing the skills of their diverse student body. Partnering with Renaissance, the district sought to build an award-winning bilingual program and implemented solutions including Renaissance myON Reader and Star 360 assessments to address these needs.

By implementing Renaissance's myON Reader, the district provided students with unlimited digital access to thousands of Spanish and English books and news articles. The use of Star 360 allowed for fast, reliable assessments in both languages. Renaissance's solutions helped the district achieve significant results, including improved performance on state reading tests, over 800 students reading more than one million words, and the recognition of their dual language program with a Golden Bell Award and a Seal of Excellence.
