Reading culture ignites at Wisconsin middle school

Mineral Point Middle School in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, was struggling with a lack of reading culture and low student engagement in reading. To address this challenge, the school worked with Renaissance and used Renaissance Star Accelerated Reader 360® and Renaissance Star Reading® to support its literacy efforts.

Renaissance helped the school shift from focusing on points to using individualized reading goals, comprehension checks, and progress monitoring. As a result, average quiz accuracy increased by 3.5%, Accelerated Reader 360 points more than doubled from 4,352 to 9,404, and students became excited about reading, with 93 of 126 students meeting their goals in one marking period.
