A Renaissance Case Study

Preview of the Peterson-Central Elementary School Case Study

Read, read, read: words of wisdom in West Virginia

Peterson-Central Elementary School in Weston, West Virginia, needed a way to keep students engaged in learning despite distractions from multimedia technology and the challenges of serving a diverse, changing population. The school partnered with Renaissance and used Renaissance Accelerated Reader® to help motivate students to read more and support teachers with progress data and reading-level guidance.

Renaissance’s Accelerated Reader program gave students a personalized reading experience, comprehension quizzes, and incentives tied to reading goals, while also saving teachers time with actionable data instead of manual book reports. The results included more motivated and engaged students, improved comprehension, and stronger schoolwide reading culture; one notable example was students donating 471 cans of food through the program’s incentive structure.
