A Renaissance Case Study
Norman S. Weir Elementary School in Paterson, New Jersey worked with Renaissance to improve student achievement in math by using interim assessments to track progress, anticipate PARCC results, and support personalized learning. Teachers wanted a way to differentiate instruction, motivate students, and help middle schoolers master the abstract math concepts they were encountering.
Renaissance provided Renaissance Star Math and Renaissance Accelerated Math to set individual goals, deliver personalized practice, and monitor growth throughout the year. The results were strong: sixth graders averaged five grades of growth, students showed a 14-point gain in growth percentile, PARCC predictions were 100 percent accurate, and the school earned Gold Level status in the National Math Club. Teachers also reported saving about 100 hours of planning time annually, while student enthusiasm for math increased markedly.
